JOB PURPOSE
The BSL community engagement officer will be working in local communities to raise awareness of our services, making links with key partners, agencies and D/deaf people. They will build links with the Deaf community and support the development of the service in response to the feedback obtained.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote the service and raise awareness of the need to provide information in British Sign Language
- Support the film media officer to promote and raise the profile of Signing Solutions CIC to the wider community and local service providers using social media, literature and presentations/networking.
- Collaborate in the writing and production of BSL videos
- Present to camera in BSL
- Engage with the Deaf community to identify support and service needs.
Qualifications/Education
Native British Sign Language user, ideally Deaf.
Experience / Knowledge
Lived experience of Deafness and Deaf culture
Skills /Abilities:

- The ability to influence and motivate individuals to engage and participate in service provision
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to collate information and write reports
- Confident to present to camera.
